can we protect windows applications (dll's and exe's) with the linux version? or does the linux version protect linux applications only?

after thinking about it for awhile. i personally think the best solution would be to allow us to specify a default compilation type at the program level. that way we can choose which type best fits our needs, then make minor tweaks on a per project basis. it would be very useful and a huge time save...
